When we shot Violet Afternoon 1, I already loved the atmosphere that soft afternoon light, the quiet bedroom, and Wikki K in violet. But when it came time to make the video, I realized something I honestly hadn’t expected: violet suits Wikki ridiculously well.
She walked slowly into the room, already dressed and ready, and it was basically… voilà. I looked at her and thought, okay, we don’t need to complicate this. The color against her dark hair and skin, the light coming through the room, her expression everything was already working.
Wikki has this very interesting energy in front of my camera. She can look calm and almost innocent for one second, then give you that little look that completely changes the mood. For the beginning of the video, I wanted to keep the same slow, intimate feeling we had in the original photo set. No rush. Just let her move, let the camera get closer, and let the tension build naturally.
But there is one important difference between the photos and Violet Afternoon 2.
In the video, Wikki does not hold back.
Once she gets into the mood, she really gives herself to the performance. There is no feeling that she is simply repeating poses from the photo set or waiting for my next direction. She takes the idea and makes it her own. The longer we were shooting, the more intense and natural she became, and at some point I was mostly just following her with the camera and letting Wikki be Wikki.
That is exactly what I like about filming her. You start with a plan, but she always manages to give you something extra that you didn’t expect.
And judging by what happened after we stopped recording… she definitely gave this one everything. 😄
Wikki needed some serious recovery time after the shoot. A little rest, some silence… and then the most important part of the production day:
Sushi. Lots of sushi. 🍣
So yes, Violet Afternoon 1 started as a beautiful, quiet photo set. But Wikki K MetArtX Violet Afternoon 2 became something much more alive, playful and intense.
And I think Wikki earned her sushi. 😄
