There are shoots where everything is planned, and there are shoots where the mood simply finds you. Violet Afternoonwith Wikki K was definitely the second kind.

The room was quiet, filled with soft afternoon light coming through the big window. Wikki arrived in this beautiful deep-violet lingerie, and the color immediately worked with the warm tones of the room. I remember looking through the camera after the first few frames and thinking: we really don’t need to complicate this.

Wikki has a very natural confidence in front of the lens. She doesn't rush and she doesn't try too hard to create a sexy moment. She just looks at you, changes her position slightly, plays with her hair… and suddenly the whole atmosphere changes. That is what I enjoy most when I photograph her. As the shoot continued, everything became slower and more intimate. The lingerie disappeared little by little, but the feeling of the set never became aggressive. It stayed soft, warm and incredibly personal. Sometimes I lowered the camera for a moment just to let Wikki move naturally, because those few seconds between poses often gave me my favorite photographs.

There was something about her expression that afternoon too relaxed, slightly teasing, but also very calm. Like she knew exactly what effect she was having and was perfectly happy to let me discover it through the lens. By the end, the room felt completely different from when we started. Same bed. Same afternoon light. Same camera. But Wikki had filled all of it with her energy. And I think that is exactly why Violet Afternoon 1 feels so intimate to me. It isn't only about beautiful lingerie or beautiful photographs. It is about that quiet chemistry that sometimes happens during a shoot, when the model forgets about posing, I forget about directing, and for a little while we are simply creating something together.
