Dakota Doll š Sweet Surrender 1 on MetArtX
Podcast:
There is something dangerously effective about mixing an innocent look with a little mischief, and Dakota Doll understood that perfectly duringĀ Sweet Surrender 1.
We built the shoot around warm pink and rust tones, with the velvet sofa giving the room a cozy, almost candy-colored atmosphere. Dakota arrived in a delicate pink lace-trimmed bodysuit, white lace stockings and those tiny pink hair clips that made the whole styling feel playful and sweet. Then she looked into my camera, gave me that little knowing smile, and suddenly the mood changed. That is what I enjoy about photographing
Dakota. She can look soft and almost shy for one frame, then give me a completely different expression a second later. I barely needed to direct her. She played with the straps, moved around the sofa, knelt into the cushions and kept finding those small gestures that make a photograph feel spontaneous rather than posed.
As the shoot progressed, we simplified the styling and let Dakota's expressions, long dark hair and beautiful natural lines take over. The warm light bouncing from the pink walls and deep rust sofa was exactly what I wanted, giving her fair skin a soft glow while keeping the photographs rich and intimate. The funny thing is that the titleĀ Sweet SurrenderĀ sounds gentle, but Dakota never really surrendered control of this shoot.
She knew exactly what she was doing with every glance toward my lens. And I was very happy to keep photographing it. Sweet Surrender 1, photographed byĀ David Ekmekci, is now online atĀ MetArtX.
