There are shoots where the styling does half the work, and then there are shoots where the model brings the whole idea to life. Sirena Milano definitely did that with Casual Flirt.
The look was intentionally simple: tiny denim shorts, a bright little top, bare feet, pigtails and just enough jewelry to give it that carefree summer feeling. Nothing too polished or complicated. I wanted Sirena to feel like she was simply hanging around the house, playing with the camera and slowly becoming more mischievous. And Sirena knows how to play.
She can switch from a sweet smile to that teasing little look in a second. I especially loved photographing her low on the floor because she has wonderful flexibility and understands exactly how to use her body for the camera. I could change the angle only slightly and suddenly the whole photograph had a completely different energy. The room was bright and almost innocent, which made her red hair and playful personality stand out even more.
We kept moving between the sofa and those beautiful patterned tiles, letting the shoot become progressively freer and more spontaneous. What I enjoyed most was that it never felt too serious. There was always a little smile, a little challenge in her eyes, as though Sirena was asking me, “Okay… what are you going to photograph next?” That is exactly the kind of tension I love behind the camera.
