I already shared the photography from this shooting as Vacation Snaps, with Nikoleta and Valery. Now the same afternoon returns in a completely different form. The video is called Secrets, and watching it move changes the feeling of the whole story.

The original idea was very simple: two beautiful girls on vacation, a swimming pool, bikinis, a phone in their hands, and the feeling that they were making their own little private holiday movie. I wanted the beginning to feel almost accidental. Nikoleta and Valery are laughing, filming each other, posing, stealing the camera from one another and enjoying the sun. Nothing should feel too prepared. I wanted to be the observer rather than constantly reminding them that a professional camera was following them.

But there was another advantage I could never create with lighting or direction: they were genuinely comfortable together. Nikoleta and Valery had become close, and that friendship gave me all those tiny moments I was looking for the looks after the camera stops, the smile that lasts a second too long, the way one of them moves closer without being told. That is where Secrets really begins. We moved from the bright pool into the quieter interior of the villa, and the atmosphere changed immediately.

Outside everything was playful and full of sunshine; inside it became much softer and more intimate. I didn't want to suddenly turn it into a different film. I wanted the same playful energy to slowly become something more sensual, as though we had accidentally followed them into a part of their vacation we perhaps weren't supposed to see. For me, this is also what makes the video different from the Vacation Snaps photo set. Photography freezes the flirtation. Video reveals what happens between those photographs. A glance has a beginning and an end.

You see who moves first. You catch the hesitation, the laughter, the little reactions that cannot be planned. And when Nikoleta and Valery finally return to the pool, it feels like we have come back to the beginning but something between them has changed. The phone comes out again, the teasing starts again, yet now it feels as though their innocent little vacation movie is hiding a secret. Maybe that is why Secrets became the perfect title. The photographs gave you their vacation snaps. The film shows you what happened between them. 💜
